About the casual believer.

A lot of people, whether they are lay people, unbelievers, immature believers, walk around being "faith illiterate".  They can talk, and pray, talk and pray, talk and pray, and accidental come across something in their heart that resembles faith, and miracle might spring forth from that, and suddenly, a whole new world of belief opens up to them.

What I'm saying, the inactive believers today, that some 60 or 70 percent of the country that believes in God generally, but aren't churched, might come back to the fold, just as Christ said that the Good Shepherd would leave the 99 sheep to seek out that one lost sheep.

Deuteronomy 28 memes.

So I came across this in Daily Devotional readings.  Deuteronomy 28.

And it shall come to pass, if thou shalt hearken diligently unto the voice of the LORD thy God, to observe and to do all his commandments which I command thee this day, that the LORD thy God will set thee on high above all nations of the earth:

And all these blessings shall come on thee, and overtake thee, if thou shalt hearken unto the voice of the LORD thy God.

"Y sucederá que si escuchas diligentemente la voz de Jehovah tu Dios, procurando poner por obra todos sus mandamientos que yo te mando hoy, también Jehovah tu Dios te enaltecerá sobre todas las naciones de la tierra.

Cuando obedezcas la voz de Jehovah tu Dios, vendrán sobre ti todas estas bendiciones, y te alcanzarán:"

"Bendito serás en la ciudad, y bendito en el campo."

And I made some memes of it, and some other.

Post-Thanksgiving 2023

Thou knowest my downsitting and mine uprising, thou understandest my thought afar off.

Thou compassest my path and my lying down, and art acquainted with all my ways.

For there is not a word in my tongue, but, lo, O LORD, thou knowest it altogether.

Thou hast beset me behind and before, and laid thine hand upon me.

Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; it is high, I cannot attain unto it.

-Psalm 139

Watching stories of God's intervention, and it puts me in wonder.  The sick, the infirm, infants, and the elderly, healed by God's mighty hand, delivered from the slings and arrows of Satan.

God has a plan, and our lives fit into that plan, in some way.  Let us, in our daily walks, do Him honor, and give Him praise.

This, after Thanksgiving and the Psalm 100 and 103 quotations floating around everywhere--we survived, and gave praise.  Abundant food, and good times with family, here.  All in all, a great weekend, though we were reminded that some had less, and were in more dire circumstances, and us, such as it was, lacking somewhat in resources, could but pray for them and show them love.

thou art fair. Love is Kind.

"My love thou art fair." -Solomon

Flash forward to today, and we feel a kind of awe at a potential mate, awe and lust, and we might be propelled forward into acting on that impulse.

We were seeing so many stories of infidelity, seeing relationships at an ending point, and I was disheartened.

"Love is sacrificial; love is kind."

There was a perfectly acceptable woman, cheated on by her husband.  He said he had his reasons, but did he?  Was she not giving him time?

Could he not accept that?

The truth of the matter is that there is one person out there, a significant other for you, for whom you would gladly make sacrifices in a spirit of love and giving.

When you find that person, nothing can tear you two crazy kids apart.

El perdon de Jehovah!

If thou, LORD, shouldest mark iniquities, O Lord, who shall stand?

But there is forgiveness with thee, that thou mayest be feared(respected; venerate).

(we are already forgiven, friends, dead to sin, freedom not to sin, but freedom from sin--when we grasp the nature of this truth which Paul puts in the "mystery" of the Gospel, our hearts become so much lighter!)

I wait for the LORD, my soul doth wait, and in his word do I hope.

And of course, as a Southern Baptist, "just an old sinner saved by grace", the Lord had mercy on me!

Psalm 130 was in one of the One Year devotionals this morning, btw.  I assume tomorrow morning is Psalm 131, along with a reading in Proverbs 28.  If anyone wants to jump in, then have at it, my friends.

The God of Hope(KJV verse shuffle-up)

If only it were worded this way.  But here are three King James Version verses stringed together from different books.

"Now the God hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that ye may abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Ghost.

Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us.

And God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things, may bound to every good work."

This was:

Romans 15:13

Ephesians 3:20

2 Corinthians 9:8

Shuffling the verses often makes a great message, but may or may not damage the context of the passage.

A contradiction? Neigh, I say, a clarification.

The theologians and biblical scholars will sternly point out that no scriptures in the Bible are contradictory.  There is the "faith ve...
